Today I will be introducing a new series which will focus on the Tun (toon) calendar system. Learning about the Tun is a great opportunity to get to the deeper information. This will also give you the opportunity to really discover what the calendar system is all about. Rather than the Mayan calendar ending in 2012 with a major negative catastrophic event, it ends October 28, 2011. I will show you why the end of this calendar system has a much more positive result. I will be covering this information in stages as I have so far with the Tzolkin series. I will first cover the basics and then move into the details. Eventually I will cover information related to events happening today and show you how they are directly connected with this calendar.
The Tun is based on 9 levels of consciousness, these levels are also known as Underworlds. Each Underworld is 20 times shorter than the one before it, this pattern continues from top to bottom. The famous Mayan pyramids have a very clear connection to the Tun calendar. Each Underworld is directly connected to a particular type of consciousness. It begins with the growth of the Cellular consciousness and ends with a new Cosmic, or Universal consciousness. Each of these levels is a step in the evolution towards enlightenment and the development of a universal consciousness.
Each Underworld is also divided into 13 equal sections, which are also known as the 13 Heavens (7 Days and 6 Nights). Each of these Heavens have their own specific purpose and are ruled by 13 different deities, or Gods. Instead of focusing on creating a particular type of consciousness, the 13 Heavens work on manifesting the changes required to get from point A to point B. In order for a new consciousness to be implemented changes must be made.
In the next entry I will cover the 9 different Underworlds in much more detail. I will begin by showing you the types of consciousness each of them is responsible for developing. I will also cover the initial events, and resulting events for each Underworld.

Just found your blog today via Mayan Majix. I’m happy to see someone getting the basics out in an informative and easily understood manner.
One suggestion, I had wanted to send you a more personal note but do not see a way to contact you other than leaving a public comment. There are probably a lot of pros and cons for getting direct e-mail versus the comment box… but it may be something to consider.
